OVERVIEW OF SERVICES
BOOKING & ARRANGING YOUR TRIP:
You determine your travel dates, the length of your trip, your per person budget and then check out on our website. You will be sent a travel preference form to be filled out within 24 hours of purchasing your package. Once we receive your completed form, we then book your travel & accommodations based on the your travel dates, your budget and the information you provide to us about your preferences.
We send customers to destinations in the United States, Canada & Mexico. Your destination for a weekend escape will be no more than 3-4 travel hours away from your departure city and with a week long getaway we try to keep your travel time under 5-6 hours.
Destinations will have public transportation and plenty of resources & activities to keep you busy for your trip duration. We will give you an option (you choose yes or no) to have us reserve a rental car, at an additional cost, if we believe that this would be beneficial to your trip.
We do not book or pay for any activities for you at your destination. We do provide recommended activities & dining options based upon your preferences.

WHAT YOU WILL RECEIVE FROM SURPRISE ME! TRIPS:
- An Email confirmation of your purchase and a travel preference form.
- An Email one week before you depart, detailing the weather forecast for your surprise destination, whether you should pack anything specific, and any luggage restrictions. The email will also tell you where to go and what time you should be at your departure location (i.e. MCI - Kansas City, MO airport @ 7:30AM).
- A Package in the mail one week before you depart. The good news is that you can open the mailing package but resist the urge to open your Surprise Me! Trips bag until the day you depart if you are rocking the "surprise" experience! Your package contains information about your destination, directions to your accommodation (hotel, bed & breakfast, Airbnb, etc), additional useful information, including your recommended activities, helpful suggestions for getting around and some general facts about your destination.
- Your Departure Email which will including your boarding passes/tickets and any last minute details you will need!
WHAT WE BOOK & PAY FOR:
We book 3 types of transportation for Weekend Escapes w/ Transportation & Week Long Getaways w/ Transportation based on your budget, dates and season of travel, etc.
- Airplane - 90% (Southwest, JetBlue, American Airlines, United Airlines, Spirit, Frontier Airlines, etc.)
- Train - 8% (Amtrak, etc)
- Bus - 2% (Megabus, Bolt Bus, Charter Bus, etc. for access to more remote destinations)
We book several types of accommodations:
- Hotels (chain hotels, independent hotels, etc.)
- Bed & Breakfast, AirBNB, Vacation Rentals, etc.
- Cruise ship cabins
Note: Smoking is NOT permitted in the accommodations we book and violations may result in fines or expulsions from your accommodation.
FOR ALL TRIPS OUR TRAVELERS RECEIVE
- An itinerary of recommended activities, restaurants, places to go, things to do, etc based upon your traveler preference survey response.
* Important Notes for Road Trips:
- You MUST provide your own vehicle and gas
- You MUST be a licensed driver with auto insurance
- Along with your itinerary of recommended activities at your destination, we will include roadside attractions to check out along your drive.
SURPRISE ME! TRIPS DOES NOT:
- Book or pay for any of your activities (we just give you recommendations!)
- Pay for your food or dining
- Provide tour guides
You purchase your trip on our website www.surprisemetrips.com when you check out.
We use Stripe to process all payments, and issue any refunds (when applicable, see details below).
Stripe and Surprise Me! Trips both guarantee that your payment and personal information are safe and protected.
TERMS & CONDITIONS (the Legal Stuff)
The purchase of any travel services offered by Surprise Me Group LLC (hereinafter "Surprise Me! Trips) constitutes a contractual arrangement between The Client (all travelers on the trip, hereinafter as “client”) and Surprise Me! Trips, and represents the client’s acceptance of the Surprise Me! Trips Terms & Conditions set out herein. Please ensure that the client reads carefully and understand these Terms & Conditions prior to booking. Acceptance of these terms and conditions is a condition of booking and is the client’s acknowledgement that they have read, understood and agreed to be bound by them.
When the client books their trip, they accept the terms of these booking conditions on behalf of the entire party. It is the client’s sole responsibility to ensure that all of the details on the confirmations are correct.
Surprise Me! Trips chooses where you go based on your budget, preferences, and travel dates. Surprise Me! Trips travelers typically have an open mind, are ready to explore new destinations, and agree to accept Surprise Me! Trips choice of destination. Don't worry, we use your input to select where we send you! If you are not comfortable with the idea of a surprise destination, choose one of our Wow Me! Trips where you select the destination and work with one of our consultants to build your trip!
By agreeing to these Terms + Conditions, you give Surprise Me! Trips permission to select the destination for your trip. As such, Surprise Me! Trips cannot be held liable if you are unhappy with your destination, and we will not offer refunds under these circumstances. We select your destination city based upon your survey responses, budget, available tickets and accommodations given your travel dates. By paying for our services, you agree to relinquish control over your destination.
Please, please make sure your name matches your government ID. In addition to the transportation carrier fees, we charge $100 to change your name on your ticket. All passenger details must exactly match your government issued ID (Passport, State ID, or Driver’s License). Your booking will be made under this name and changes to name details are not allowed by many airlines and other service providers. While we will do our best to make such a change if necessary, please bear in mind that most airlines and other service providers treat a name change as a cancellation, to which standard conditions, change fees and charges apply. If you enter the incorrect name and the airline, bus, train, or hotel will accept the change, the Surprise Me! Trips fee for correcting your error will be $100. If you are planning on changing your name, please contact Surprise Me! Trips as soon as possible.
Need to change your travel dates/times? We’ll do our best, but we can’t make any promises. Give us a call as soon as possible if something comes up, but keep in mind - it’s a $100 change fee. Changes are subject to availability. If changes are allowed, a Surprise Me! Trips change fee of $100 will apply. If you have a change in plans, if you can no longer depart at the intended time as originally stated, or if you plan not to take a flight, bus, or train as booked, please contact Surprise Me! Trips as soon as possible to discuss your options, as we cannot guarantee a refund or rebooking with airlines, hotels, etc).
Day of Travel
We’ll tell you exactly when and where you need to be to catch your flight, bus, or train. PLEASE don’t be late.
If you have any questions about your reservation, give us a call! We’ll give you as much information as possible without ruining the surprise. Failure to check-in for your flight, bus, or train at the appropriate time may result in the airline denying you boarding and Surprise Me! Trips may not be able to grant a refund. Check-in times vary by carrier/airport, and one week prior to departure, Surprise Me! Trips will advise the best time to arrive and check in for your travel, according to your departure time and mode of transportation. Should you have any questions regarding this timing or process, contact Surprise Me! Trips as soon as possible.
If you miss your travel, there’s not much we can do. We’ll give you all the information you need to get there with plenty of time, and it’s up to you to get there. If you fail to check in on time for a confirmed reservation, the airline, bus, or train carrier may register you as a “no-show,” which could result in extra charges and/or your whole travel itinerary being cancelled and/or render your ticket void. Surprise Me! Trips is not responsible for missed travel as a result of customer error.
If you need to cancel your trip, call us ASAP! We can’t promise you’ll get your money back, because that depends on the transportation + accommodation companies, but we’ll do our best for you. Cancelled bookings will not be fully refunded. Refunds are subject to the transportation and accommodation providers through which your reservations are made. You may forfeit up to 100% of the cost of the booking. If your plans change for any reason, please contact Surprise Me! Trips at your earliest convenience. Any cancellations made the week of travel will not be refunded.
Triple check your email address! This is how we’re sending you your tickets and all important information the day you leave. You’ll be receiving a package in the mail before you leave, so double check your mailing address, too. The vast majority of our travel partners offer e-tickets. You will receive your e-ticket the day of departure by email. Some travel partners may require you to print your ticket at the airport. Where this is the case, Surprise Me! Trips will provide all necessary documents and details the day of departure by email. If you do not receive these documents, please contact Surprise Me! Trips as soon as possible. Please be sure to double check your email address when checking out on our website!
We’ll let you know exactly how to pack - what checked bags you’re allowed, etc. If you’re a heavy packer, any extra fees are your responsibility. Surprise Me! Trips sells products and services as an agent on behalf of airline, bus, and train carriers (Third Party Suppliers). Depending on your mode of transportation and transportation company, we’ll tell you exactly what you are getting one week prior to departure (one checked bag, only carry-on baggage, etc.) Surprise Me! Trips has no responsibility for products or services provided by any Third Party Suppliers that you purchase separately (extra checked bags, food or drinks on flight, etc.). We give and make no warranty or representation regarding the services or products supplied by Third Party Suppliers. Luggage and Baggage policies vary from carrier to carrier. One week prior to departure, you will be alerted by Surprise Me! Trips of any size and weight restrictions to which you must adhere. Should your baggage not comply with these restrictions, you will incur all additional charges.
Air Transportation Safety Compliance
Know what you can and cannot take on an airplane. Important airline ticket terms and conditions and other important notices apply to air transportation. Federal law forbids the carriage of hazardous materials aboard aircraft in your luggage or on your person. A violation can result in five years' imprisonment and penalties of $250,000 or more (49 U.S.C. § 5124). Hazardous materials include explosives, compressed gases, flammable liquids and solids, oxidizers, poisons, corrosives and radioactive materials. Examples: Paints, lighter fluid, fireworks, tear gases, oxygen bottles, and radio-pharmaceuticals. There are special exceptions for small quantities (up to 70 ounces total) of medicinal and toilet articles carried in your luggage and certain smoking materials carried on your person. For further information contact your airline representative. Violation of these restrictions will result in imprisonment and financial penalties. Surprise Me! Trips will not be held liable for transgressions against air transportation requirements. Please refer to www.tsa.gov/travel for further details on prohibited items.
Accommodation Rules & Compliance
Follow the rules! Don’t smoke, don’t break anything, don’t steal. If you get kicked out, or charged for anything, we can’t help you there. Note that your payment through Surprise Me! Trips covers your room reservation costs. All additional fees incurred through incidentals (room service, late checkout, etc.) are to be paid by the customer. You will most likely be asked to provide a credit or debit card at the time of check in. The hotel, bed & breakfast, or other accommodation may reserve the right to charge your credit or debit card for any damage incurred to your room or the accommodation during your stay, or for any items that are missing upon departure. Incidentals and rates will vary by accommodation booking.
Customers are required to comply with all rules and regulations of the booked accommodation. Failure to do so may result in fees or expulsion from the hotel or bed & breakfast. Surprise Me! Trips will not be held liable for any additional fees incurred, or legal proceedings between the customer and accommodation.
Important Note – Conditions Beyond Our Control
There are some things that even we can’t control (natural disasters, food poisoning, etc.). If something goes seriously wrong, we can’t promise any full refunds. As always, just give us a call and we’ll see what we can do with the vendors. If there is an extreme weather situation or natural disaster, we’ll help you get sorted out and make sure you have a plan to get back home, but will not cover the additional expenses. Compensation will not apply if a significant change is made for reasons beyond our control. These include: war, threat of war, riots, civil disturbances, terrorist activity, industrial disputes, natural and nuclear disasters, fire, epidemics, health risks, changes due to rescheduling or cancellation of flights by an airline or alteration of the airline or aircraft type; closed or congested airports or ports; hurricanes and other actual or potential severe weather conditions, act of government or public authorities or other circumstances.
Surprise Me! Trips cannot accept liability or responsibility for any airline or supplier bankruptcy or insolvency and the failure to provide any services that may follow.
We’ve done our absolute best to make sure your accommodation and travel arrangements are top-notch. If you think they’re sub-par, let us know. Unfortunately, there are some things that are simply out of our control. Surprise Me! Trips acts as an agent for independent travel suppliers, such as airlines, hotels and other independent suppliers to provide you with the services you purchase; and is represented in destination by companies organized and existing in that destination, including providers of transportation and excursions. We have taken all reasonable steps to ensure that proper arrangements have been made for your vacation. However, we do not accept and expressly disclaim any liability for the actions or omissions of these independent suppliers. If you find you have any dispute with such persons, however, we will give you as much reasonable help as we can in resolving a dispute.
You understand and agree that Surprise Me! Trips shall not be liable for any loss, injury, expense or damage to persons or property resulting, directly or indirectly, from the acts or omissions of these independent travel suppliers, including but not limited to delays, over bookings, cancellation of services, cessation of operations, accidents, failures of equipment, or changes in fares, itineraries or schedules.
Surprise Me! Trips cannot control and will not be responsible for bodily injury, property or other damage or loss caused by factors beyond our control, including but not limited to flight delays, airline turbulence, transportation accidents, war, terrorism, weather, quarantine, sickness, government restrictions, regulations or actions, mechanical breakdowns, fires, earthquakes, floods, climatic aberrations, acts of, civil unrest, strikes, riots, theft, disease or accidents, or failures related to the public internet, telecommunications lines or facilities, or third party technology systems, other unforeseen circumstances, or any other cause beyond our control, or including your physical, medical or mental disabilities, your failure to obtain valid travel documents or your failure to follow travel instructions. Under no circumstances shall Surprise Me! Trips be liable for any special, incidental or consequential damages arising from the foregoing.
Surprise Me! Trips, the airlines, bus, and train providers issue tickets and/or electronic documents covering transportation and hotel/accommodations. Neither Surprise Me! Trips nor these suppliers, or their respective subagents, shall be held liable for loss or damage to property or injury of person caused by reason of any act, omission, defect or negligence by any other hotel agency, transportation company or party providing such services or facilities.
All parties concerned are not liable for any claim arising out of or in connection with carriage or other services or features otherwise performed or occurring in connection with this package, except as provided in the conditions of carriage for the transportation company and the passenger tickets issued in conjunction with this package. Surprise Me! Trips is not responsible under any circumstances for any injury or damages you may suffer in connection with your air or ground transportation.
PAYMENTS, REFUNDS & RISK
Please note that any confirmed booking is subject to your credit card approval for the transaction. It is our policy that the credit card used to purchase your trip belong to one of the travelers on the trip. If a third party credit card is used, we will require that a credit card approval form is filled out by the owner of the card and that we receive a scanned copy of the physical card and copy of the driver's license of the card owner. We apologize for the restrictions here but we are all about preventing fraud ... as we are sure that you are as well!!
Refunds may be requested but are not guaranteed. Please note that any request for refunds is subject to these terms & conditions. While we will consider refund requests on a case by case basis, we do not guarantee refunds for any reason. All requests for refunds must be submitted directly to Surprise Me! Trips. No refund will be made for package features the participant opts not to use. “No show” penalties could be up to 100% of the package or component costs. Any complaint or claim involving the vacation services booked through Surprise Me! Trips, involving the negligence of any transportation companies, or accommodations in relation to any service provided to the customer, must be notified to Surprise Me! Trips while on the trip or within 10 days of the trip completion. Any requests for refunds filed more than 10 days after returning from a trip will not be considered.
Safety & Personal Risk
Surprise Me! Trips is not responsible for injuries and damages that you may incur during the course of your trip, including but not limited to: injury or theft during travel by train, aircraft, bus or other means of transportation; forces of nature; political unrest; acts of lawlessness or terrorism; and accident or illness. By agreeing to participate in a Surprise Me! Trip trip you agree that you will hold Surprise Me! Trip harmless regarding any provision of medical care or the adequacy of any care rendered. Surprise Me! Trips is not responsible for such risks and dangers that may arise beyond our control. By agreeing to these terms & conditions, you accept these risks and dangers and agree to hold Surprise Me! Trips harmless for such.
Any claim or controversy that arises out of or relates to this agreement or the alleged breach of it, and which cannot be settled by the parties will be settled by submission to a local chapter of the American Arbitration Association, or a similar body, for binding non appealable arbitration in accordance with the current rules and procedures of such organization. The aggrieved party shall bring all grievance to arbitration in Dallas, Texas regardless of the residence or principal place of business of either party. In the event a lawsuit or arbitration proceeding is initiated by either party, the party against whom a judgment or award is entered will also be liable for costs of suit and reasonable attorneys’ fees as set by the court or arbitrator.
GIFT CARDS & GIFT CARD REFUNDS
Gift cards are valid for three years after the purchase date.
If a gift card has been purchased and either the purchaser or the recipient of the gift card would like a refund, then only 50% of the full gift card amount will be refunded.
The unauthorized use of any images on www.surprisemetrips.com is forbidden. The images on the testimonials page are the sole property of the traveler, and may not be used by third parties without written consent.
You MUST contact firstname.lastname@example.org directly for any media inquiries, use of images or text. Failure to do so may result in legal action.
On occasion, if there is excess room in your budget, we might be able to purchase trip add-ons (i.e. activities, dining, etc.) that we think you'll enjoy based on your survey. The higher your budget, the more "extras" we can include!
We will make accommodations for your pets if you need them to travel with you. You will be responsible for any additional costs associated with having your pets travel with you and we will contact you regarding these costs prior to finalizing your trip arrangements.
